This lot consists of a matching pair of percussion pistols with case and accessories. The top of the barrels have "Acier Fondu" (French for cast steel) in gold, and the barrels are rifled. The sights are fixed. The numbers "1", and "2" are respectively marked on the barrel tangs and breech plugs. The "A" gun has the number "1" and the "B" gun has the number "2." An Liege proof is stamped on the left barrel flats. Except for the barrel, the major metal components feature floral engraving. The floral pattern extends to the forends as a carving featured on the forearms and grip areas. The grips are also deeply fluted. The fitted case has royal purple velvet lining and brass hardware. The inside of the padded lid has an embossed floral motif surrounding the French retailer marking "FORT ARQUEBUSIER/A SAINTES" in gold. The case holds the following accessories: two picks, nicely figured wooden mallet and percussion cap container, combination screwdriver/nipple wrench, small powder flask, single cavity bullet mold, brass ramrod, bore rod with worm attachment, lead balls and two spare percussion nipples.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine. The barrel retains 80% thinning original polished blue finish. The remaining metal surfaces have faded to a smooth gray patina overall. The stock is very fine with a minor crack visible near the barrel wedge (right side), some scattered minor handling marks and a crisp carving. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good with faded lining, some water damage and an area of filler visible on the lid and minor handling/storage marks.
