Manufactured by Ulrich Roos & Sohn in Stuttgart, Germany, around the mid-19th century. The barrel has six-groove rifling, gold inlaid designs at the muzzle, a dovetailed blade front sight, "U. ROOS & SOHN IN STUTTGART." on top in gold inlay, gold inlaid designs at the breech along with "ENGL-GUSS-STAHL," and no visible proofs. The breech plug, and furniture are finished gray and have intricate flowing scroll engraving along with a bestial design on the hammer. It has a screw adjustable rear sight. It is fitted with a spurred trigger guard and adjustable single set trigger. The figured walnut stock has relief scroll carving at the forend tip and around the checkering on the wrist.

Fine with 20% original blue finish remaining, smooth gray on the lock and most of the furniture, minor oxidation, smooth gray and brown patina on the balance, crisp engraving, distinct gold inlays, and minor handling and storage wear. The stock is very fine other than a faint crack in the grain above the lock and has crisp checkering and carving, glossy original varnish, and minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
