Description:

This is a very desirable Winchester Model 1892 Trapper Model Carbine with a very scarce 14 inch barrel that was manufactured in 1915. The accompanying Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms letter addressed to noted Winchester expert and author George Madis states this carbine has been removed from the purview of the National Firearms Act and classified as a curio and relic. The ATF letter lists the carbine by serial number, caliber and 14 inch barrel. The accompanying authentication letter from George Madis states that he has "determined [the carbine] as all original as made by Winchester" and "overall this carbine is in unusually fine condition, with a high degree of original finish on most of the parts." The carbine is chambered in .32 WCF, a rare caliber for Model 1892 trappers as stated by Madis. Other features include carbine sights, saddle ring on the left side of the receiver, and carbine stock with correct type of buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel and magazine retain 75% original blue finish and the remaining surfaces retain 40% plus original blue finish with the overall balance a smooth brown-gray patina. The revarnished wood is also fine with some scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
