This "air cane" is 37 1/4 inches in length, is mostly orange with black accent stripes, giving it the appearance of bamboo, and has small blade and notch sights and a ramrod that sores within the barrel, and a cocking wrench. Comes with a partitioned hardwood case featuring a Henry Tatham of London paper label on the interior of the lid, bullet mold, air pump and lead balls. Henry Tatham Jr. (c. 1824-60) was the younger son of Henry Tatham (c. 1801-14). He began trading on his own from 24 Pall Mall in 1825 and later moved to 37 Charing Cross by 1834. Tatham was one of London's best gunmakers and was a gunmaker to the Royal family. Air canes were popular in Great British from the 19th century until the end of WWI and primarily curiosities occasionally used for informal target shooting and even hunting but rarely self-defense unlike cane swords.

Very fine, retaining most of the original enamel with flaking on the balance. The metal body exhibits fine, but faded, damascus twist. The repaired case is fine with a couple cracks, missing key escutcheon, minor handling/storage marks, high spot wear on the lining and retaining much of the label.
