The action and side plates feature full coverage, fine floral and broad leaf scroll set against shaded backgrounds, standard maker's marks on the underside, top bolt fastener, single gold washed trigger, matching engraved trigger guard and break lever, decorative piercing on the lever end, and sliding tang safety. The trigger plate is signed "S. TONONCELLI" for Brescian Master Engraver Stefano Tononcelli. Nicely figured European walnut forearm with engraved fittings and straight grip stock with checkered bare butt. Very fine with 97% plus original blue finish on the barrels, some light forearm wear, and small handling marks. The action and side plates are an attractive coin gray with crisp, well-defined engraving. The wood is very good with attractive color and figure, crisp checkering, small dings and scratches throughout, and 95% of the original high gloss varnish finish. Mechanically excellent.
