The included "8/9/04" dated invoice from gunmaker John F. Rowe confirms the maker, model, "in the white" finish, and lack of serial numbers at the time of purchase. As stated, both shotguns are left in the white with chopper lump steel barrels, solid, smooth concave ribs marked "His1" and "Hers1" respectively with single brass bead sights, 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, standard proofs on the flats, "JOHN F. ROWE" importer marks on the underside of the barrels, and "SKEET/SKEET" marked chokes. Hand detachable side lock action with removable firing pin bushings, matching "His1/Hers1" markings on the insides of the locks, dual triggers, manual sliding tang safety, and rolled trigger guards with long tangs. Attractively figured custom European walnut straight grip stocks and forearms with push button latches and blank heel and toe caps on checkered bare butts. With leather bound takedown case for the set with Webley & Scott interior label and cleaning tools. John F. (Jack) Rowe was a Birmingham trained gunmaker that immigrated to Oklahoma in 1982 where he established himself as an authority on English and European guns. Excellent with 99% original bright finish, light handling marks, and small traces of light spotting on the bright surfaces. The wood is also excellent with attractive figure and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Case is good with small scuffs and dings, storage marks overall, and some light surface cracking on the straps.
