According to the included factory letter, this pistol was part of a 50-piece order of pistols slated for delivery to the "National Matches" at Camp Perry, Ohio, shipped out on August 17, 1931. Aside from the traditional "Not Listed" grips, the main features of the pistol are verified in the letter. A major nerve center of American handgun and long gun marksmanship since 1907, the National Matches at Camp Perry are home to a number of distinguished awards for both civilian and military shooters and to this day represents a flagship event on the global shooting sports calendar. Blade front and adjustable notch rear sights, with the two-line address and patent markings on the left side of the slide ahead of the Rampant Colt, the "ACE" legend on the right, and "3/VP" and "20" on the trigger guard. Fitted with a milled checkered trigger, wide knurled hammer, checkered slide catch, thumb safety and mainspring housing, long grip safety, checkered grips and a two-tone "ACE" magazine. Includes a replacement, renumbered matching Colt "black box".

Excellent, with 95% original blue finish, showing a few small areas of brown patina, bright edge wear and mild handling marks. The grips are also excellent, with a few scattered dings. The fair replacement box shows torn edges and tape repairs on the perimeter of the lid. Mechanically excellent.
