A few documents are included with this lot. The first is a 1997 dated Colt letter addressed to the Boulder County Sheriff Office, which identifies this pistol by number and features (minus the traditional "Not Listed" grips) as having been part of a 20-piece shipment to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Company of Chicago, Illinois on August 7, 1908. Second is a letter of authenticity from a prior owner, which asserts the pistol belonged to Sheriff Robert Euler of Boulder County, Colorado. The third is a transcript of a murder confession given by a Louie Shelby, in which Sheriff Euler was an interviewer. Per the documents, Euler was born in Illinois in 1868 and moved with the family to establish the +/7 Ranch in Boulder County in 1872. In addition to ranching, Euler filled a number of public roles, acting as a county assessor, undersheriff starting in 1913, and was elected Sheriff (records suggest a tenure of either 1916-1922 or 1917-1923). After stepping down as Sheriff, Euler returned to ranching, and passed on in 1941. The prior owner stated that he had directly acquired the pistol and the copy of the confession from the estate of Robert Euler Junior around 1996. Fixed blade front and round top rear notch sights, standard slide and frame markings, and Rampant Colt behind the serrations on the left side of the slide. With checkered grips with scalloped "COLT" banners and Rampant Colt imprints. Included with the pistol is a brown leather Audley safety holster. The slide is a later production replacement.

Very good, with strong traces of the original blue finish, showing some bright blue finish in the protected areas, a mixed brown and gray patina on the balance, scattered spotting and mild scratches and dings. A dent is visible on the back left side of the grip frame and the bottom of the grip safety. The heavily worn grips are fair, with some scuffing and denting. The magazine is very tight in the well; otherwise, the pistol is mechanically very good.
