Description:

Produced circa 1901/1902, the Philippine (aka Alaskan) Model was ordered in response to combat experience in the Philippines where the then-standard .38 Colt revolvers were seen as insufficient to deal with the Moro Rebels. Using the 1878 Frontier as a baseline, the 1878/1902 lengthens the trigger for increased leverage on a reinforced mainspring. Fixed sights, with Carr's "R.A.C." inspection marks on the left side of the frame and trigger guard and the rear of the cylinder, "J.T.T.", "1902" and "U.S." on the right side, niter blue trigger and hammer, and checkered Rampant Colt grips with a lanyard swivel on the butt.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 50% of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown and gray patina, bright edge wear, minor spotting and scattered light dings and dents. The faded grips are also fine, with mild handling marks, good detail, and contrasting sun-aged color between the panels. Mechanically excellent.
