Description:

1) Army tunic, green wool construction with a Penn Garment Company (Williamsport, PA) on the interior and "E. NISSEN" hand-signed inside the right breast pocket. Decoration includes two Service Chevrons, one red chevron and a white-on-black "balloon" patch on the left arm, a "winged propeller with lightning" patch on the right arm, and an observer-style embroidered patch on the right breast. Nissen has not been identified. 2) Lightweight Army tunic, green twill construction, with a set of "US" and "winged propeller" pins on the collar, Staff Sergeant path (with winged propeller device) on the right arm, a winged "803" patch on the right breast and an "803" unit insignia (a biplane lined up in a gunsight, backed by a U.S. aviation roundel) on the left shoulder. Established in 1917 as the 109th, the 803rd was originally organized as an aviation unit but spent World War I on support and supply detail.

Rating Definition:

1) Good, with mild wear and a few small holes. Some evidence of removed patch stitching is present on the right arm. 2) Good, with some creasing and stains.
