Description:

Both of the tunics in the lot are green wool construction, with matching trousers, brass buttons and pins, the insignia of the 6th (an Indian head on a star) on the left shoulder, and the French fourragere cord run through the left shoulder strap. Neither is fitted with any rank insignia. 1) Uniform set, with one red chevron and 3 service chevrons on the left cuff, a fourrage cord with extra lengths to be hung over the sleeve (reserved for members of the unit active when the cord was earned), and no visible maker's marks. 2) Uniform set, with three service chevrons on the left sleeve, two wound chevrons on the right, no visible maker's marks, and a tan canvas belt with the trousers. An included note attributes the uniform to a Clarence Dewey Hathaway of Deposit, New York (records show a USMC Private and WWI veteran by that name born 1898, deceased 1972, and buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Deposit, New York), and include an unmarked iron ring (internal diameter about 0.84, about size 11.5). 3) U.S. 1917 "Brodie" pattern helmet, finished in brown paint with a brass USMC eagle/globe/anchor logo and a painted 6th Regiment insignia on the front, stamped "FKS 4" on the underside of the brim.

Rating Definition:

1) Very good, with some minor wear and staining and some frayed areas on the cord. 2) Very good, with some holes and stains. One of the front buttons is detached but included. 3) Fair. The leather is torn, the webbing has detached from the crown, and some areas of heavy spotting are present.
