Description:

Manufactured during World War One, this pistol is a factory skeletonized version of a Remington-UMC 1911 service pistol, no serial number assigned/stamped, also no government inspection stamp, before a number of ports and openings were added to show off the internals. Often associated with classroom instruction for factory craftsmen and military armorers, cut-away weapons such as this were the best way to let people see how moving parts came together in actual operation. The cuts on this example give a very good view of the linkage assembly, recoil spring compartment, and the interconnected operation of the safeties, sear, hammer and trigger.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 60% of the original blue, showing areas of brown and gray patina, scattered spotting, a few areas of minor pitting and scattered handling marks. A number of parts were not used, or missing, including the grips, recoil spring, barrel link and others. The slide hangs up a bit during cycling, but the present components otherwise function well for demonstration purposes. Would make a great addition to your Model 1911 collection!
