This is an excellent example of a DWM Model 1906 commercial American Eagle Luger that is chambered in the scarce 9mm Parabellum caliber. This series/variation of Luger was manufactured expressly for sale in the United States. These early commercial Lugers are very well made and exhibit a beautiful rust blue metal finish with the straw colored small parts. The chamber area has the distinctive "American Eagle" crest with the DWM logo on the front toggle. It is correctly numbered in the commercial style with the full serial number (26639) stamped on the front of the frame, and underside of the barrel with the last two digits of the serial number (39) stamped on the side plate, takedown lever, trigger and back side of each grip panel. It is fitted with the standard, short 4 inch barrel, correctly numbered on the underside, with no other proofs or markings. The front end of the frame is correctly stamped "GERMANY" indicating export outside of Europe. This model has the short style frame and upper receiver with 1906 pattern grip safety and first type safety that has the polished lower safety area with the extractor correctly marked, "LOADED". It has the standard inverted "v" front sight with the fixed rear sight. It is complete with an exceptional original nickel plated commercial magazine that has a wooden base correctly stamped "Cal. 9m/m". It is complete with a early unmarked brown leather holster. The holster is the first pattern with the small pouch for the takedown tool and pin punch, both are absent.

Excellent with 97% of the original blue finish, light edge and high spot wear, and some blue loss on the left muzzle area and front edges of the frame rails. The grips are also in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering overall showing only some minor handling marks in a couple places. The small parts retain 75% of their original straw colors overall. The attractive redyed/repolished commercial holster is in fine condition with nice tight stitching and showing some minor handling marks and scratches.
