Description:

The second model of Nambu pistol introduced for the Imperial Japanese armed forces, the initial run of 1902 "Papa" Nambu pistols used components left over from the Model 1900 "Grandpa" Nambu pistol, including the frames. These frames, originally made to accept a Mauser style combination stock and holster, were modified by having the back strap filled in and machined smooth. This early Papa Nambu shows evidence of that modification. Blade front and tangent rear sights, with the "GTE" logo on the chamber and a faint naval "anchor" mark on the right side of the frame. The grips are finely checkered, with original untranslated Japanese character white paint markings on the left panel and a nickel finished magazine numbered "560" on the spine.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 50% of the arsenal refurbished blue finish, showing areas of brown patina, scattered spotting, mild pitting and light handling marks. The grips are also fine, with some chipping around the magazine catch and mild dents. Mechanically functions fine, but magazine is extremely difficult to remove when bolt is back.
