Finish: blue
Grip: gutta percha
Stock:
Item Views: 1876
Item Interest: Average

Class: Antique
Description:

An improvement on the Model 1878 Revolver, the "Zig-Zag" uses a reciprocating spring-loaded arm riding in a track around the side of the cylinder instead of more traditional arrangement of a pawl engaging the rear cylinder face, with the arm also doubling as a secondary locking mechanism for the barrel latch. While a sturdy and compact handgun, Mauser would move on to the famous 1896 Broomhandle semi-automatic pistol. Fixed sights, with the "crown/crown/U" proof on the barrel lug, matching numbers on the frame, cylinder and barrel catch, the one line "1878" address on top of the rib, and fine grips decorated with vine and dragon motifs.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 75% of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown patina, minor spotting, bright edge wear and light handling marks. The grips are fine, with some internally mended cracks, and crisp decoration. Mechanically excellent.
