Description:

This scarce revolver has the rarer square butt frame fitted with flared, smooth walnut grips but also has broad arrow marks on a few components such as the barrel latch. Though officially adopted on October 5, 1897, most of these revolvers were not issued, but a few were used by the Royal Navy Service. This model was quickly superseded by the Mark IV which was adopted on July 21, 1899. It has integral blade and notch sights, "P. WEBLEY & SON LONDON & BIRMINGHAM" on the top of the barrel, "MARK 'III'" on the left side of the top strap, ".455/.476" on the left side of the barrel lug, "893" on the front of the barrel lug, holster guides, "WEBLEY/PATENTS" and the bullet trademark on the left side of the frame, "76893" on the right side of the frame, "793" on the back of the replacement cylinder, Birmingham proofs, a lanyard loop on the butt, and unmarked grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good with 50% of the thin dull blue military style finish, mild oxidation/pitting on the replacement cylinder, general mild scratches and marks, and mild overall wear. The sanded, reoiled grips are fine and have some slight marks and scratches and minor handling and edge wear. Mechanically excellent.
