Manufactured in 1949 and beautifully engraved and gold inlaid by a Master Engraver. This rifle features a beaded blade front and elevation adjustable rear sporting sights. The barrel features a band of engraving at the muzzle with a thin gold wire inlay. The magazine loops are similarly engraved as is the action rod. With standard Winchester markings on the barrel flanked in yet more detailed scroll a wedge of engraving at the breech and a thick gold band inlaid directly ahead of the breech. The frame is incredibly engraved with field scenes on the right and left sides. The right side features a wolf in the forest with what appears to be a bear cub peering out of a cave in the background, a bounding rabbit on the left side and a standing groundhog on the bottom. All animals are done in high relief gold inlay with great care and detail. The right scene is discretely signed "NK". Even the top of the bolt is masterfully engraved (see inset pictures for full detail). The 3/4 magazine has the triangle loading port found only on the gallery model. Mounted on a light multi-point checkered walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a checkered Winchester Repeating Arms buttplate.

Extremely fine as master engraved, finished and gold inlaid. With 99% of the deep polished blue finish and very minimal light handling marks. All engravings are sharp, incredibly detailed and the gold inlays are bold. The wood is near mint with a nice light color, good grain and minimal handling marks. Mechanically excellent. This is simply a wonderful example of fine metal work by a Master trained in the style of George Ulrich.
