This exceptional example of a rare pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Super Grade Featherweight 270 Winchester caliber rifle was manufactured in 1954. It has been estimated that only about 248 Super Grade Featherweight Model 70s were manufactured. Standard Winchester markings including the Winchester factory oval proof stamped on the left side of the barrel and receiver at the breech and "-SUPER GRADE-" on the floor plate. Hooded ramp front sight, adjustable folding leaf rear sight and the receiver tapped for scope/sight mounting. The bolt, follower and extractor are jeweled, and the bolt is numbered to the gun. Checkered high comb pistol grip stock featuring quick release sling swivels, ebony forend cap, metal grip cap, cheekpiece and aluminum buttplate.

Excellent plus. The rifle retains 99% original blue finish with thinning on the bolt knob and some minor dings on the buttplate heel. There is some light scuffing on the top of the rear receiver ring. The stock is excellent plus with a few minor storage marks. The markings are clear and crisp. The action is excellent. A collector will look a long time to find a high condition Pre-64 Model 70 Super Grade!
