This is a late production, smokeless powder, Mexico or South American contract Remington rolling block rifle manufactured c. 1901-1902. The upper tang is marked "REMINGTON ARMS CO./ ILION. N.Y. U.S.A./PATENTED OCT. 22 1901". The barrel is marked "CAL. 7M.M." just ahead of the handguard and has a stud mounted blade front and folding ladder rear sights. It is equipped with an automatic ejector and is mounted on a nearly full length forearm and straight wrist stock with sling swivels on the front band and bottom of the buttstock and a flat rifle buttplate. The bottom of the action is marked "H", and the stock is marked "H2" between the lower tang and sling swivel. The left sides of the tangs are marked "4729" and "157", and the buttstock is stamped "157" in the upper tang slot.

Excellent. 90% of the original blue finish and 95% plus vivid case colors remain with some of the finish removed on the upper tang and some minor edge wear. The wood is very fine with several small ding and minor scrapes. Mechanically fine with crisp markings.
