The rifled barrel is signed "AAW" in script on top by Master Engraver Alvin A. White who was one of the most talented American arms engravers in the 20th century and indeed in American history. While best known for engraved Colt revolvers, White also had a taste for traditional firearms and other antiques as can be seen in this auction's selection. The barrel also features stars around the muzzle face, a beaded border at the edge of the muzzle, a silver blade front sight on a lightly engraved brass base, notch rear sight, and scroll engraving on the breech end and tang. The lock has scroll engraving as do the brass trigger guard, side plate, and cap. A finely engraved silver plate with an eagle and shield motif is inlaid between the ramrod entry pipe and trigger guard finial. Six smaller silver inlays flank the upper tang, and three silver inlays are on each side of the wrist. The central inlay on each side of the wrist is finely engraved with a star motif. The stock is nicely figured maple and has flat sides on the wrist which has a "bird head" profile.

Very fine with an attractive "antiqued" appearance throughout, lightly textured brown patina along the barrel, minor oxidation and aging on the lock, aged patinas on the brass and silver, crisp initials and engraving, attractive figure along the stock, some minor scratches and dings, and generally only minor age related wear. Mechanically fine.
