Description:

Included with this blade is a NBTHK "green paper origami" certificate, which has assessed the blade at a rank of "Tokubetsu Kicho"(Extraordinary Work), and attributes the signature to a smith named Iga Kanemichi, active in the late 1600s and early 1700s. The overall length is 27 3/4 inches, with a 21 1/2 inch long live edge, showing attractive metal grain and a strong, broad hamon. The tang shows a very deep, well-aged antique color, with a single mekugi-ana and a 6-figure signature. With a brown patina on the remainder of the tang, which shows two mekugi-ana and a six-figure signature on the left side. The included furniture with the blade consists of a silver finished habaki and a set of shirasaya mounts with ebony accents.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with a minimum of spotting and handling marks on the professionally repolished blade and the fittings showing a bit of light wear.
