Retailed by the Birmingham firm of Dunderdale & Mabson and with mounts bearing Birmingham silver hallmarks with date letter for 1804. With slightly swamped octagonal barrel signed “LONDON” fitted with a silver front sight, struck at the breech with Tower private proof marks, engraved with a band of running foliage and fitted with a platinum touch hole. The barrel tang incorporates the standing back sight and is engraved with a band of beadwork and foliage. Lightly engraved flat bevelled lock signed “Dunderdale & Mabson” and with stepped tail, raised priming pan and roller frizzen. Figured walnut full length stock with flat sided butt and blank shield shaped silver escutcheon at the wrist. The silver mounts including trigger guard with acorn finial, and ramrod with iron worm.

Very good. The barrel and lock are bright metal, signatures faint, some surface discoloration and scattered corrosion spotting throughout. The swan neck of the cock has a crack forming on the inside curl. The stock has been refinished and has been cracked through and repaired around the lock, and the forearm has a repaired crack towards the tip. Further surface blemishes and age related storage and handling marking throughout. The silver mounts have been lacquered or varnished, engraving remains clear. Mechanically excellent.

The pair in an associated relined and refitted mahogany case, the lid with reproduction trade label for Dunderdale & Mabson, and with accessories including brass mounted loading rod with worm, iron pincer type bullet mold, brass mounted copper powder flask, turnscrew and key for the case.

Very good. In comparable condition with “A” with the exception of the stock which has a small crack between the rear side nail and the breech opposite the lock. The relined case is in good condition with moderate handling and storage marking and some wear and minor holing to the baize lining.
