Description:

Approximately 1,200 of these pistols were manufactured by famed Philadelphia gunmaker Henry Deringer for the U.S. Navy. Of those, as few as around 300 may have been accepted by the Navy. This unique example lacks government markings and has varnished stock and was likely sold on the open market or for presentation. It has "DERINGER/PHILADEL'A" on the lock and barrel, no sights, a swivel mounted ramrod, and brass furniture.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 80% of the original brown finish on the barrel, dark case colors on the lock, aged patina on the brass, small dings and scratches throughout. The stock is fine and has most of the original varnished finish, a small crack at the nose of the lock, and several dings, dents, and chips concentrated at the edges. Mechanically excellent.
