Description:

This is an early example of a Model 1816 pistol manufactured by Simeon North of Middletown, Connecticut, between 1817 and 1820. The lock plate is marked "S. NORTH/U[eagle shield]S/MIDLN CON." The breech end of the barrel is stamped "P/US" on the left side and has a deeply stamped condemnation mark on top. A front sight is fitted to the front section of the barrel band, and the left stock flat has a cartouche.

Rating Definition:

Good with light gray patina, some patches of mild pitting, and light oxidation. There are some scrapes and marks ahead of the cock on the lock plate. The stock has some chipping at the tail of the lock, a faint cartouche, and a crack at the left flat. The lock functions but does not lock up properly at half and full cock. The markings are mostly clear except as noted.
