A large Navajo style rug showing many characteristics of those made in the Ganado/Klagetoh regions including the typical black, grey, white, and red color scheme. It displays the typical geometric patterns of these woven pieces of art. Initially made to be used as clothing, coverings, and blankets, rugs and blankets like this one have been an integral part of the Navajo economy since the late 18th century, and continue to be highly desirable to this day. This rug measures approximately 96 inches by 82 1/2 inches.
