Description:

Manufactured as part of the 1898 U.S. Navy contract. The chamber is stamped "-U.S.N.-/[anchor]/No 88874/-N.C.T-". The left side of the receiver has the two line address/patent marking. Pinned blade front sight, ladder rear sight graduated to 1,000 yards and bayonet lug on the front barrel band. Pistol grip stock with upper handguard and sling swivels with a stacking swivel mounted on the front barrel band.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The musket retains traces of original blue finish in the protected areas with the balance a dark mottled patina. The lightly sanded, re-oiled, dark wood is very good with a few large pressure dents and a few minor handling marks. Mechanically fine. These are more difficult to find than most collectors realize!
