Toradar matchlocks were popular in India and the surrounding region from the 16th century up to the 1830s. This one has a very interesting barrel with a cannon shaped muzzle, extensive gold Indian damascene/koftgari floral scroll patterns, a massive conical breech section, and large U-notch rear sight. The trigger, pan, and pan cover also have matching gold patterns. The stock has raised relief carving, an engraved bone buttplate, copper fittings including a vent pick holder, and several star accents.

Fine with bright gold contrasting against dark backgrounds, mottled gray patina in some of the bright bands, and aged patina on the copper. The revarnished stock is good has several cracks and repairs. Mechanically fine.
