Description:

Measuring 13 inches long, with a 8 inch double edged blade, Damascus construction with angled quadruple fullers, sharp reinforcing ribs, and a slight distal swelling just below the striking point. The hilt has an internal width of 2 3/4 inches at the cross-bar grip, with a deep brown finish and extensive koftgari gold work. Floral vine patterns are prominent on the grip and crossguard, with both sides of the arms showing repeated animal motifs, mainly themes of predators running down and killing their prey, with additional scenes of elephants fighting off attack with its tusks. The sheath is of iron construction with a cloth-lined interior, koftgari vine and leaf work, and pierced-through center panels featuring gold-accented birds perched among leafy branches.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall. The blade shows a smooth gray patina with mild spotting, with most of the visible Damascus pattern concentrated in the fullers. The hilt and sheath show a few areas of pitting, with over 90% of the original gold decoration present.
