Description:

The lock and barrel are both marked for Charles Ingram along with flourishes of foliate scroll engraving, which continue onto the bolster, buttplate, trigger guard, and breech plug. Charles "Old Charley" Ingram established his gunmaking business in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1832, for which he was well-respected within Scotland and beyond. Apart from his gunmaking, he was also an accomplished marksman and a sergeant in the 1st Lanarkshire Volunteer Rifles. The crowned barrel is fitted with windage adjustable blade front and folding ladder rear sights, sling swivels, and mounted with a nicely figured stock with multipoint checkering on the forearm and wrist.

Rating Definition:

Very good, retains 98% blue finish on the barrel with the remaining metal a bright grey patina with crisp engraving and recut barrel markings. The reoiled wood is also very fine with some scattered minor dings and scratches and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
