Description:

This revolver is pictured on page 36 of "Webley Solid Frame Revolvers: Models RIC, MP, & No. 5" by Black, Davis, and Michaud. These revolvers are named after the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) which adopted them in 1868. It has the cylinder stops around the front of the frame which indicate it is the No. 1 First Pattern as the Second Pattern used projections instead of notches. The barrel has border engraving at the muzzle, a small rounded blade front sight, and Birmingham proofs. The frame has English scroll and floral engraving, "6847" over the winged bullet trademark and "WEBLEY'S/PATENT" on the left side at the front, and "TRULOCK BROs,," and "11 ESSEX BRIDGE, DUBLIN." on the top strap flanking the grooved rear sight. The cylinder has light scroll and border engraving, Birmingham proofs, and "847" on the rear, and the loading gate has a "7." The grip has large diamond checkering, and the butt has a lanyard ring. The case has a reproduction Philip Webley & Son trade label, an empty cartridge block, an oiler, a screwdriver, a cleaning rod, a key, and a brass tag marked "98."

Rating Definition:

Fine with 60% original blue finish fading to a plum tone in some areas, gray patina on the hammer and trigger, patches of brown patina where the finish has flaked, and generally mild wear. The grip is very fine and has crisp checkering, smooth original oil finish, and minimal handling wear. Mechanically excellent. The case and the accessories are also fine and have mild storage wear.
