Description:

This revolver is pictured on page 37 of "Webley Solid Frame Revolvers: Models RIC, MP, & No. 5" by Black, Davis, and Michaud. This revolver has the small cylinder stops at the front of the cylinder that distinguish the R.I.C. No. 1 First Pattern revolvers. A similar revolver with less engraving is pictured on page 65 of "Webley Revolvers" by Bruce and Reinhart. Like that revolver, this one has a gilded nickel finish and special one-piece grip. It has fine English scroll and floral engraving, a small rounded blade front sight, "TRULOCK BROs,,/13 PARLIAMENT ST,, DUBLIN" on the top strap flanking the rear sight groove, Birmingham proofs, "6864" over the winged bullet trademark and "WEBLEY'S/PATENT" markings on the left side of the frame, matching partial serial numbers on the cylinder and loading gate, and lanyard ring on the butt.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with traces of original gold finish in the background of the engraving and other recessed areas, 95% plus of the period replated nickel finish, crisp markings and engraving, and mild age and storage related wear. The grip has attractive natural tones, some age related staining concentrated in the back and lower sections, some shrinkage, and minor age cracks. Mechanically excellent.
