Manufactured in 1891 and marked with the two-line Colt address/patent dates on top of the barrel and "44 Cal." and much later non-factory added "SMOOTH" on the left of the barrel at the breech. The non-factory smoothbored barrel gauges at approximately .439. The left side of the receiver is marked with the Rampant Colt and has a saddle ring staple and saddle ring attached. Fitted with integral raised blade front and folding ladder rear sights, and the receiver and buttplate have been nickel plated per special order. It is mounted with a multi-point checkered slide handle and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Very good, retains about 20% original blue finish on the bored out barrel and magazine in sheltered areas and 40% original nickel finish with the balance mostly a smooth grey patina. The wood is very good with some minor dings and scratches scattered throughout, three small notches cut in the comb, and well-defined checkering on the slide handle. Mechanically excellent.
