This is an attractive example of a early DWM Model 1906 American Eagle Luger. This type of Luger was made expressly for export to the United States to increase sales for DWM . These early commercial Lugers are probably some of the best Lugers that the DWM factory ever produced. They all have excellent fit and finish with beautiful straw colors on the smaller components. The model has the correct short style frame and upper receiver with the early 4 inch barrel. The chamber area is marked with the "American Eagle" crest and the DWM logo on the front toggle. Since it’s the early version it does not have any German commercial proofs. The only proof is an early DWM barrel inspection proof on the underside of the barrel. The front end of the frame is marked with the full serial number over "GERMANY" indicating export outside of Europe. The left side of the breechblock and front toggle are stamped with the last two digits of the serial number, as well as the various other parts. The pistol is fitted with a set of dark European checkered walnut grips. It is complete with a correct magazine that has a nickel-plated body with a unmarked wooden base.

Very fine with 98% plus of the original blue finish, the refinished barrel is also very fine and the restrawed parts have 99% finish. The grips are in excellent condition except for a small pressure dent on the lower left side grip. An attractive DWM Model 1906 Commercial Luger in scarce 9mm Luger.
