This is an exceptional example of a 1945 dated WWII British Enfield No. 4 Mk 1(T) sniper rifle that is fitted with a No. 32 Mk III scope and mount. These rifles were the standard WWII British sniper rifles used until the early 1960s. The butt socket is marked "M47C/1945/U33630/TR". It has a black wartime finish and a walnut buttstock, forend and handguards. The comb of the stock is fitted with a hardwood cheekpiece held on with two wood screws. It has the standard blade front sight and a properly trimmed-down "No.7" rear sight. The buttstock has the correct British acceptance proofs along with the "S51" stamping behind the pistol grip area indicating it was converted by H&H and the scope number "28350" stamped on top of the wrist. The underside of the forend is stamped with a struck out serial number along with several small British proofmarks. It is currently fitted with a No. 32 Mk III sniper scope that is marked "TEL. STG/No.32 Mk.III/OS 2039A/A.K. &S No 28350/1945", with a blue "B" stencil on the scope body, standard post and cross-hair reticle pattern, matching individual numbers on the scope ring halves, and a metal base numbered to match the rifle. A brown leather sling is included, as is a 1944 dated set of leather lens protectors, a green metal scope case stenciled to match the rifle on the exterior and hand-numbered to both rifle and scope on a lacquered-over label, and a green painted hardwood transit case for the rifle. A blue "B" (blooming) and red "W" (waterproofed) are stenciled on the scope body.
