During the build-up to WWII, in 1936 the Germans discarded the letter code system and went back to just stamping the plain date on the chamber. (This example is dated 1938, which is the third year of this practice). Blade front and notch rear sights, "1938" on the chamber, "S/42" on the toggle link, "droop-wing eagle/63" proofs on the extension and barrel and "eagle" firing proofs on the barrel, extension, and breechblock. The finish is full blue, with a set of checkered grips, and a blue finished alloy base magazine. Minus the mixed magazine, numbers are matching overall. Includes a black leather holster, marked "epf/1941" and "eagle/WaA195" on the back.

Very fine, with 90% plus of the original blue finish, showing bright edge wear, scattered light scratches, mild spotting and gray and brown patina visible in the grip straps. The replacement grips are very fine, slightly oversized, with some light chips around the screws and mild dents. The holster is good, with some cracking and scuffing overall and some replaced stitching on the belt loops. Mechanically excellent
