Description:

Starting life as a receiver made by Union Switch and Signal that was transferred to the Quality Hardware Company to be built into a full M1 Carbine. This is one of a limited group of M1s bearing the truncated (and unfortunate sounding) "UN-QUALITY" dual maker's mark behind the rear sight. Fitted with a blade front sight and "GE-O" two-leaf rear sight, "3-44" Underwood barrel, "UI" Type I barrel band, flat bolt, milled "NL-Q" trigger guard, "LT-Q" hammer, button safety, and a "L.T.-Q." magazine catch. With a low wood stock, 2-rivet "Q-RMC" handguard, "crossed cannons" on the right side, oval oiler cut and a checkered buttplate. Magazine absent.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished and subsequently restored to World War II configuration, with 75% of the parkerized finish, showing a brown patina on the front sight and on a few parts of the receiver, stake marks on the rear sight base, and mild edge wear and handling marks. The reoiled stock is also very fine, with a few light dents, loose handguards, and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
