This is an excellent example of an early WWII M1 Garand originally manufactured circa Oct 1943 that was refurbished and upgraded/converted to an M1D Sniper rifle by one of the US Army supply depots. The rear of the receiver has the standard Springfield Armory markings over serial number "2019372", and the M1D barrel is correctly marked "SA 1-52". The rifle has a mix of early and late WWII Springfield Armory marked parts, along with a wide base gas cylinder, four slot gas cylinder plug and a set of post-war sights. It has a walnut stock and handguard set with a boxed "SA" cartouche on the left rear side and a double "P" proof in the grip area, one small uncircled and the larger circled "P" proof. The stock has the standard checkered steel buttplate. The rifle is complete with an original M84 sniper scope that is marked on the nomenclature plate: "TELESCOPE/M84/SERIAL NO.31596" and it comes with its original GI mount. The scope has a sliding metal sun shield, a rubber eyepiece, and the standard post and cross hair reticle. The rifle is complete with all its original compliment of parts and includes a copy of the original CMP shipping/release documents, a "HART" marked M2 flash hider, green web sling, canvas scope case, leather cheekpiece, cleaning rod/bore brush set, etc., all contained in its original CMP shipping box.

Very fine with 99% of the arsenal refurbished parkerized finish overall, which is still dry having not been oiled after being received from the depot. The scope and mount also retains 99% of their original finish with clear sharp optics with no specs inside. The stock and handguard set are all in fine condition having been refurbished with light cartouche and proof stamps overall. The stock and handguard are also dry from storage having never been oiled. A real time capsule for the U.S. martial collector.
