This particular Registered Magnum, number 3479, is one of only 79 revolvers manufactured with 7 1/2 inch barrels. The accompanying factory letter confirms the registration number, extremely rare barrel length of 7 1/2 inches, King red post front sight on a ramp reflector base, King no. 112 rear sight, rare hump back hammer, blue finish and checkered walnut Magna grips. The revolver was shipped on February 18, 1938, and delivered to Earl S. Zeigler, Wheeling, West Virginia. Other included documents (photocopies): an order form listing the features found on this revolver and addressed to Hays Brothers of Sardis, Mississippi, invoice for this revolver which lists the features and registration number, correspondence between Hays Brothers and S&W representatives discussing the final price for this revolver, and S&W sight order for this revolver. The revolver also has standard S&W markings with "REG. 3479" stamped on the inside of the frame, matching assembly numbers on the frame and crane, right grip panel numbered to another gun and matching serial numbers on the butt, cylinder and ejector shroud. Excellent, retaining 99% original blue finish showing slight muzzle wear and a cylinder drag line. Nearly all original case colors remain on the hump back hammer and trigger. The replacement grips are excellent with limited handling evidence and crisp grip checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with a small tear near a lid corner and moderate wear.
