This revolver is one of only 926 Colt Model 1905 Double Action Revolvers purchased by the Marine Corps between 1905 and 1909. The butt is marked with the U.S.M.C. number ("No/64") in front of the lanyard swivel and "U.S./M.C." behind it. The barrel has the two-line Hartford address/patent dates on top along with "COLT. D.A. 38" on the left side. A circled Rampant Colt is stamped on the left rear of the frame above the grip. The number "64" is repeated on the frame, crane and cylinder latch. Fitted with correct pattern replacement checkered grips.

Fine, with 40% plus of the original blue finish, showing areas of mixed brown and gray patina, scattered spotting and handling marks, and some bright edge wear. The side plate is a bit ill-fitting and shows a gap around edge. The slightly oversize replacement grips are fine, with some dents and flat spots. Mechanically fine.
