AYA barreled action manufactured in 2008 and subsequently custom stocked and finished by Tate Gunmaker. Blued chopper lump barrels with single bead sight on the concave barrel rib marked "TATE GUNMAKER (FROM PURDEYS), IONE CALIFORNIA", 2 3/4 inch marked chambers, automatic ejectors, light engraving at the breech end of the rib, standard Spanish proofs and "AYA" maker's mark on the flats, and improved cylinder/improved modified marked chokes. The casehardened side lock action features hand detachable locks, side clips, removable firing pin bushings, standard Spanish proofs and AYA maker's mark on the water table, full coverage fine rose and scroll engraving, gold inlaid "TATE" markings on the locks, "TATE/GUNMAKER" on the underside of the receiver, dual triggers, matching engraved rolled trigger guard, and automatic sliding tang safety with gold inlaid "SAFE". Checkered walnut pistol grip stock and forearm with engraved fittings, engraved blue steel grip cap, blank initial oval, and checkered bare butt. Dale Tate was employed at J. Purdey & Sons prior to moving to the U.S. and setting up a custom gun shop. Bore and stock measurements (R/L): chambers proved and measured at 70mm (2 ¾”); both bores 9 inches from the breech proved at 13.9mm (.547) and measured at .545/.544; chokes measured at .011/.024; drop at comb 1 5/8 inches; drop at heel 2 3/8 inches; length of pull 14 7/8 inches; cast-off; weight 6 lbs. 3 oz.

Excellent. 99% original blue finish remains on the barrels with some scattered light handling marks. The receiver and locks have 95% original vibrant case colors and crisp engraving. The wood is also excellent with sharp checkering and some small dings. Mechanically excellent.
