Class: Curio & Relic Handgun
Description:

The revolver was manufactured without a serial number. Assembly number "2596" stamped on the frame and crane are the only markings on the gun other than "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the barrel underside, "G.S. BAKER" engraved on the left side of the frame surrounded by a scroll and border panel, and "eagle head S24" Springfield Armory inspection marks on the barrel and cylinder. The U.S. Army marking has no corresponding number. Fitted with deluxe high grade presentation style burl walnut grips. At the time of this writing, G.S. Baker remains unidentified. Further research in the S&W archives is definitely warranted.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 97% original blue finish with the grip straps thinning to a brown patina and a few small patina patches on the frame. 97% original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are very fine with some minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
