Manufactured in 1949. Blue solid rib barrels with the Browning St. Louis address on the left side and "VAL A. BROWNING" patent marking on the right, single bead sight, 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, chokes marked and measured at modified/full "**/*", and standard Belgian proofs. The receiver has had side plates added and features full coverage, tight scroll engraving surrounding gold inlay bordered, and detailed game scenes of a fox stalking quail on the right and a retriever and duck scene on the left. All of the animals are rendered in highly detailed, flush gold inlay. The trigger guard is engraved to match with a gold inlaid gamecock. The engraving is unsigned; however, the level of skill and detail is certainly master engraver quality. With matching engraved tangs, single selective trigger, and tang mounted safety/selector switch. Straight grain walnut checkered pistol grip stock and forearm with engraved fittings, European style sling swivels, and Browning Superposed hard rubber buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements are: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .728/.728; choke constriction .023/.036; minimum wall thickness .023/.023; drop at comb 1 1/2 inches; drop at heel 2 3/8 inches; length of pull 14 1/8 inches; weight 7 lbs. 7 oz.

Exceptionally fine as professionally, masterfully embellished with 99% high quality blued finish and some very small handling marks. The engraving is sharp and highly detailed with complete gold inlays. The wood is very fine with small scattered dings and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
