Signs like this one would have hung in thousands of shops and hardware stores around the United States in the early 20th century letting shoppers know that they were authorized to sell some of the finest longarms available at the time. The sign itself is reverse painted on glass with a black background and reads "AUTHORIZED DEALER/WINCHESTER/1936/CUTLERY & FIREARMS" in gold with gold scroll designs at the corners. Including the frame, the sign is 21 3/4 inches wide and 13 5/8 inches tall, and the frame is 1 inch wide.
