This is a fine example of a 1940 production Krieghoff Luger pistol manufactured for the Luftwaffe. The pistol has the distinctive Krieghoff blue finish and straw colored small parts. The chamber is dated "1940" and it has the C-2 toggle markings which was the most frequently encountered toggle marking that has the slightly smaller dagger/anchor flanked by the "H" and "K" Krieghoff trademark with "KRIEGHOFF/SUHL" centered underneath. The right side of the receiver has the Luftwaffe "eagle/2", 1st stage II mid-production proof next to the Luftwaffe acceptance proofs. The underside of the barrel has the "Luftwaffe proof/bore diameter/Luftwaffe eagle/2" proof over the smaller serial number. The breechblock and toggle both have the Luftwaffe early stage II parts proof. The full serial number "10587" is stamped on the front of the frame, underside of the barrel and left of the barrel extension. The last two digits of the serial number "87" are visible on the various smaller parts and it is fitted with checkered black plastic grips. It is complete with two all blued type three army magazines that are marked on their sides with "122/eagle/37" with the center pinned aluminum bases. The bases are re-stamped to match pistol with an upright "eagle/2" over serial number "10587". It is complete with an unmarked black leather commercial holster with a single "eagle/2" proof on the inside.

Fine, 85% of the blue finish overall, with minor edge and high spot wear. There is light thinning and blue loss on the muzzle and left side of the barrel mixed with some professional touch up visible on the grip straps and rear toggle link. The smaller parts retain 50% of their straw colors overall with finish loss on the face of the trigger. The holster is in very good condition with a nice smooth black finish overall, tight stitching, and minor handling marks and scratches on the face of the holster. The lower back side of the holster has lost its black finish on the belt loops and lower toe, which is lightly distorted. As noted it has both renumbered magazines. A representative 1940 dated Krieghoff P.08 rig.
