This is a standard WWI 1896 Mauser Contract "Red 9" Broomhandle pistol. The right side of the frame marked "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER/OBERNDORF A NECKAR." The top of the chamber area is marked "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF A/N." The Mauser "Crown/U" proof mark is located on the left side of the barrel extension and again on the top, left side of the bolt. It has a standard fixed front sight, and the rear sight marked "50-500", and the hammer marked with the intertwined "NS" for new safety. It is fitted with standard 23 groove grips which have the large number "9" on each side that has been filled with red paint. The front of the magazine well has the standard Imperial Eagle proof mark. This pistol is complete with a correct style combination walnut shoulder stock/holster that has been fitted with a restamped/renumbered attaching iron.
