This is a very fine example of an early pre-war Luftwaffe contract, Heinrich Krieghoff "S" code Luger pistol that was manufactured circa 1935. The chamber is correctly marked with the "S" code indicating manufacture in 1935, and it has the desirable early C-1 die markings on the front toggle. The blade is symmetrical, and the points of the anchor nearly touch the outer edge of the letters "H" and "K" over "KRIEGHOFF/SUHL". The letter "I" is slightly ahead of the letter "S" in "SUHL" with the round bottom on the letter "U". It has the typical military style serial number placement with the full serial number "2225" on the front of the frame and the left side of the barrel extension. The underside of the barrel is marked with the only the bore diameter "8,82" over the "Eagle/2" Krieghoff acceptance proof. The various parts are correctly stamped with the last two digits (25) of the serial number. The right side of the barrel extension is marked with the early "LWaA" Luftwaffe acceptance proof followed by the Luftwaffe test proof and small "Eagle/2" proof. The pistol is fitted with a set of walnut Krieghoff grips that are correctly thick on the checkering pattern and are un-numbered on the back sides. There is another pistol serial number 2284 fitted with wooden grips, photographed on bottom of page 156 of the Krieghoff Parabellum by Randall Gibson. It comes with a nickel plated Krieghoff type magazine with an aluminum base that is stamped with an inverted Eagle/2 proof over the matching serial number "2225".

Very fine with 85% plus of the blue finish still remaining overall, edge and high spot wear, minor thinning on the grip straps, and actual blue loss on the left side of the muzzle area, the side plate hum and front edge of the frame rails. The smaller parts retain 50% plus of their original straw colors overall. The grips are in fine condition and show only minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
