Description:

The included factory letter confirms this revolver was shipped in its current configuration (grips not listed) with factory rolled "W.F. & Company on butt" when shipped to Wells Fargo Company c/o W.W. Ashton, Purchasing Agent, in New York City in a twelve gun lot on June 3, 1907. W. M. Ashton of Omaha, Nebraska, served as the purchase agent for the express company's New York depot from 1888 until 1910. Express railcars remained popular targets for bandits well into the 20th century. It has "W. F. & Co" on the butt, standard sights and markings, "H 44 C" and what looks like "2231" on the inside of the left grip and "Frank ENGELKING" inside the right grip.

Rating Definition:

Very good with traces of original blue finish in the protected areas, gray and brown patina on the balance, some light pitting, and mild overall wear. The replacement grips are fair and have extensive handling related wear, including partially smoothed checkering, scratches, and small dings. Mechanically fine.
