Description:

One of around 14,000 with the "WHITNEYVILLE" markings manufactured in 1870s. "044" on the bottom of the barrel, back of the cylinder, and inside of the grips. "7004" on the butt. "F D" on the frame at the toe. Includes a leather flap holster.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 60% plus original blue and 85% original silver plated finish, mild aged patina on the silver, smooth gray on the fading areas of the barrel and cylinder, some dings on both sides, and general mild wear. The grips are very fine with most of the original varnish and mild wear mainly on the right panel and the raised edges. Mechanically needs work. The holster is very good and has some crackling on the flap and minor overall wear.

Description:

Around 20,000 of these were manufactured in mid-1860s. The design is essentially a small scale version of Plant's Army Model and fires .30 caliber cup primed ammunition that loads from the front of the cylinder. The top of the barrel rib is marked "MERWIN & BRAY FIRE-ARMS CO." The cylinder is marked "PATENTED. JULY 12. 1859. & JULY 21. 1863." The full serial number is on the bottom of the barrel, the butt, the left side of the grip frame at the toe, and the inside of the right grip. It comes with a leather flap holster with a silver heart accent.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 60% original blue finish on the barrel, traces original blue on the cylinder, 70% original silver plating, aged patina on the silver and brass, smooth brown patina on the balance, minor oxidation, and mild overall wear. The grips are very good and have mild edge wear. Mechanically fine. The holster is very good and has a repaired seam and mild wear.
