Description:

The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver with an 8 inch barrel and smooth walnut grips when it "was probably sold on October 11, 1872" and delivered to M.W. Robinson Co. of New York City as part of a shipment of 60 units in both blue and nickel finishes. The carved grips were likely added by the M.W. Robinson Co. to fill a special order. It has the one-line address/patent dates marking on the rib, provision for a lanyard ring (filler screw) on the butt, relief carved Mexican eagle on the right grip panel, grip panels numbered to the gun, and matching assembly numbers on the grip frame, cylinder, barrel, and barrel latch.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 97% original nickel finish showing scattered high edge wear. The cylinder has some chipping along the front edge of two chambers, minimal pitting and light illegible markings towards the rear. Some original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger guard. The slightly shrunken grips are very good with typical age cracking mostly on the bottom, minor handling marks and some high spot wear on the carving. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
