Description:

All frames of the .44 Double Action First Model Revolver were manufactured between 1881 and 1898, but were listed in the company catalogs and sold up until 1913. A S&W factory rework star is stamped through the finish on the butt indicating factory repair of a function problem. It lacks a factory return date or factory refinish marks, the finish is original. Right grip panel numbered to another gun. Matching serial numbers on the butt, cylinder, barrel, and barrel latch.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 85% original blue finish with the balance thinning to a brown. 95% original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are also very fine with some minor handling marks and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
